WHY CHARTER BROKERAGE?
Our Clients Are Our Focus
A full-service compliance provider. Charter Brokerage offers complete customs services, not merely data collection and documentation. We partner with our clients to understand their business operations. In advance of shipment, we determine the tariff status of goods and identify and resolve all issues related to customs clearance and compliance.
Unmatched experience. Charter Brokerage’s trade specialists are long-standing customs attorneys and licensed customs brokers. Among the first licensed customs brokers to take part in the Remote Location Filing Program, Charter and its trade experts supply in-depth knowledge of all customs clearance laws, rules and regulations related to imports and exports. Clearing shipments at all ports in the U.S. and Canada, we ensure our clients meet or exceed the requirements of “reasonable care” and adhere to best practices in their customs clearance and export operations.
Cost-efficient services. Charter Brokerage’s approach to the customs process stresses compliance, avoids expensive mistakes and reduces any need for outside consultants and attorneys. Over the long term, Charter’s clients save money.
The duty-drawback expert. Charter Brokerage is the recognized leader in the recovery of duties, taxes and fees under the Customs and Border Protection’s drawback laws and regulations. We file and recoup more duties, taxes, and fees than any other service provider, and no firm matches our experience with the complex rules that govern drawback.
FTZs and bonded services. Charter Brokerage is the industry leader in the administration of foreign-trade zones and bonded warehouse programs designed to reduce or eliminate duties, taxes and fees that would otherwise apply to imported goods. Charter specializes in foreign trade zone operations for the supply of foreign-status jet fuel to domestic and international carriers in the U.S. Our services include applications, activation, documentation, inventory tracking, record keeping, reporting and audit support.
Consultation and advocacy. Charter Brokerage’s trade compliance professionals offer guidance and advice on any changes in the laws, regulations, administrative rulings, and industry practices, that affect global trade. An informed, effective advocate, we support our clients’ interests through proposed legislation, regulations, and administrative practices. Leading and working with Customs and Border Protection, other governmental agencies, members of Congress, the administration and industry groups, we look to expedite the administration of the drawback, import and export laws that enhance trade benefits for our client.

WHY CHARTER BROKERAGE?
Company Credentials
Charter Brokerage is licensed by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). In the U.S., we are also a licensed ocean freight forwarder. Nationally recognized for our commitment to compliance, Charter is the authority on duty drawbacks, tax recovery and global trade services.
Importer Self-Assessment Program. Charter worked with U.S. Customs to develop the Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) Program, which allows importers to assess their own compliance with CBP laws and regulations.
Broker Self-Assessment Program (Customs and Border Protection pilot program). U.S. Customs selected Charter as one of only four U.S. Customs brokers to take part in the pilot for the Broker Self-Assessment Program, which assesses and manages risk and how well brokers comply to requirements, while helping to keep the application of trade laws and processes uniform. U.S. Customs did not institute the program.
ISA Pre-Certifier (Customs and Border Protection pilot program). Charter is one of only nine U.S. brokers designated by U.S. Customs as an “ISA pre-certifier,” making us qualified to advise, review and pre-certify an importer’s ISA application. This rare designation recognized Charter’s competence and commitment to the highest standards of customs compliance. U.S. Customs did not institute the program. Further, we are a participant in the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism as well as DOT HAZMAT-certified.
