Mike Bertman
Vice President
Mike Bertman is the V.P. – Government Relations. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and joined Charter Brokerage in 2022.
Mr. Bertman is based in Washington, DC, with oversight of all government relations, outreach to policymakers, and D.C.-based trade associations. He also covers all state government-related issues for Charter. In addition, he focuses on TFTEA and its expansion in various industries.
After closing his consulting practice “Swamp Pilot Strategies LLC.”, he joined Charter. Before Swamp Pilot, Mr. Bertman led U.S. Federal and state government relations function for a major distilled spirits company for 22 years. In addition, he chaired the Distilled Spirits Council’s Federal Government Relations Committee for 20 years.
For nearly ten years, Mr. Bertman worked on Capitol Hill as a staffer on the House and Senate sides. Hailing from Oklahoma, his first job out of college was as the Assistant to the Minority Leader of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. In addition, he has worked on numerous political campaigns over the years.
